The hCG Diet: End Results

So it's finally over. And I finally cheated... BIG TIME. I had some onion rings for lunch, and stopped by the BK Cafe for some dinner. And it was SOOOOOOO good. I was actually surprised to see I lost another .4 lbs this morning.

So, in 23 days, I lost 24.8 lbs. Just .2 lbs less than my 25lb goal. I can live with that. Now on to better fitness and health to go along with the initial weight loss. After this weekend, Chris and I are going to start the atkins induction diet, and then start eating low carb. I don't expect to lose as fast as this diet, but I expect to feel better. More on that with the complete recap.

Thanks for all that followed along the hCG diet reading how it was going and hopefully you learned a little bit, or saw information on the diet. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them.

Beginning Weight: 333.2
Weight: 308.4
Total: 24.8

  1. Whatever happened to the "eat smart for life" discipline? No more fad diets? I used to listen to the podcasts, and seeing them renounced for no real progress or effort is sad.

  2. I do think Hunter probably agrees with you. I haven't really discussed the site/podcast with him after starting this. I imagine many people who listen to the show feel the same way you do, and I think it's a very valid point.

Honestly, I wanted to see what the diet was all about. I was in a bad place after feeling like a failure by gaining 15 of the 30lbs I had lost back. I don't think it is a good diet, or way of eating, and when I get the full run down on the site, I think you'll see that.

I know Hunter fully believes in the eat smart for life concept, and I do to. This was more of an experiment for me. The idea of eating right has not been renounced, but I also don't think closing our minds to everything else is a good idea either.

Obesity is a big issue for many people and they are all different. Different things are going to work for different people. I had joked about and poked fun at this diet for quite a long time with actually no real understanding. I read about it, and still was nonplussed. So instead of just disregarding it as crap, I decided to actually do it and be able to talk first hand about it.

Is that really so bad? Wouldn't you be more interested in the information I now know about this diet from doing it, than if I had just read about it and made conclusions? I can tell you now, they would have been false.

  3. Wow! Congrats on finishing up. Looks like I started just a few days after you. I'm on Day 20 now and hovering right around 22 lbs lost. I haven't cheated (so I was privately cheering for you with the brisket and ice cream and all, lol) except for mixing veggies a time or two in my stews and salads and such. I think I also had some salsa during the first week.

Plateau-ed a while around day 11 or 12 and had to observe an apple day (which SUCKED! Not because I minded the apple diet...it was quite manageable. But I lost 2 pounds overnight. And gained them right back overnight. So it's like I had to lose the same 2 pounds twice).

I don't know if I'll be doing another cycle at any point, as I'm sure this starvation can't be good for me. But I have a much larger weight loss goal and I wanted knock the first 20 pounds off fast, so that I could work off the rest @ my own pace.

In all truth, the hardest part for me has been refraining from alcohol. Having steak without red wine, or going out w/friends without havign a cocktail made a huge difference in my social life. I was surprised to see that.

I'm glad you finally got your burger. I'm already planning my celebratory Cinco de Mayo meal! (Chips n Salsa galore, guacamole, a quesadilla and a 1800 margarita w/extra cointreau)
