I'm starting with the worst of the lot, in my opinion. Any of these diets that have you taking some weird concoction send up red flags to me immediately. Then after reading more about it and seeing gems like, "If you are not losing weight fast enough, quit exercising"
Anyways, I heard Dr. OZ did a show on it, so I went and watched it:
http://www.doctoroz.com/videos/weight-loss-controversy-hcg-diet-pt-1
Originally I had thought people were saying he was endorsing this diet, but after watching it for myself, i see that's not actually the case. He's endorsing more studies on it. He actually says not to use the homeopathic drops, which is the method I'm using. But he does say, if you find a doctor doing the injections, that you could give it a try.
Well, I'm not going to inject myself at this point, and I think a lot of folks are in the same category. I'd rather waste the $29-45 and try the drops. Regardless of whether it's a placebo effect or not.
So, what is the hCG diet for those that have not heard of it.
Basically, you take 10 drops, 3x a day of the hCG solution. Or a single injection daily.
For the 1st 2 days of the diet, you load up on fats for some reason or other that is supposed to help jumpstart the weight loss. The skeptic in me says, this is the part that makes the restriction of calories seem not so bad, and throwing on the extra weight at the start, makes it that much easier to take off weight before it's settled into fat stores.
After this, we will restrict our calories to 500 a day. That's right. 500. Which the hCG drops are supposed to help suppress appetite for. My meals will consist of Coffee (plain) for breakfast, a fruit & veg + 3.5 oz of lean protein for lunch and for dinner.
So, will I be hungry? Will I lose weight? Will i lose hair or sanity? Stay tuned to find out!
Day 1: My load up day.
I started off at 332 lbs. Up 17 from my eat smart life style.
I had a fiber bar and water for breakfast. Then for lunch I went to the chinese buffett and loaded up. For dinner, I had a burger with some potato skins.
Goal of loading up on fat, on day 1. Success!
